BIOGRAPHY

Isabelle Schuler is a writer and actress based in London.

Her writing debut short film, Baby Steps - loosely based on Sonnet 66 - was a finalist at the Shakespeare Film Festival and screened at Crossing the Screen Film Festival in 2018. In April 2019, Baby Steps was selected by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust to screen in an online exhibition alongside other works exploring Shakespeare through film.

Baby Steps had been funded by investors who were impressed with Isabelle's previous work, most notably the comedic short, Hots for Shakespeare, a film about one young woman's obsession for the bard.

Isabelle’s video series From Sonnet to Song - Women’s Month 2018, - a video series celebrating the beautiful diversity of women in London - landed her on Women’s Radio Station with a podcast discussing the importance of Shakespeare in modern day society. Isabelle then produced a successful kickstarter campaign in 2019 to make Women’s month 2019.

Outside of making Shakespeare more accessible through music and film, Isabelle is drawn to adaptations of familiar stories, told from a different perspective. She is currently developing a feature film based on a 12th century folktale condemning female curiosity, and turning the story on its head to show that without curious women, terribly people will continue to do terrible things.

Isabelle is also currently pitching her first TV show with producer Allison Powell, about a well-known Scottish Queen from the 12th century.
